Why the first night beats every other night
By the reception, your schedule is measured in seven-minute blocks. The welcome party has none of that pressure. Guests arrive travel-rumpled and curious, drinks in hand, with a full evening and nothing assigned to them. Put a patch bar in that room and it becomes the icebreaker: the groom's childhood neighbor and the bride's grad school roommate end up debating patch placement like old friends.
The all-weekend effect
Whatever guests build on night one, they wear for the rest of the trip. Hats show up at the pool. Totes carry beach gear to the ceremony rehearsal. By your actual wedding day the whole crowd is subtly coordinated in pieces they made themselves — a group-photo effect no dress code has ever achieved voluntarily.
What we set up
Welcome parties usually run a single-lane station: one press, one stylist, a 30 to 40 patch menu, and blanks that suit the venue — trucker hats and bandanas for a backyard or brewery, totes and camp flags for a rental house. It is a lighter build than a reception, and it prices accordingly. If your welcome party and reception are within a day of each other, bundling is the best value on our menu: the crew and equipment are already staged, so the second night costs a fraction of the first.
